Artist’s Statement
I’m fascinated not only by the subject itself, but by the use of light and shadow to create rich scenery and the subtle nuances of moods and expressions.
I work in pastels and acrylic paints, building rich, saturated layers; a process that is slow and intentional, mimicking the way atmosphere and drama builds in any intriguing subject or setting
I want you to feel the mood of the person and scene itself; the slight smirk of a smile, the intensity of a defiant gaze, or the cool and confident swagger dripping from a jazz scene.
